I used one bar of castile soap and grated it with a cheese grater using the very fine side (you can use felsnaptha or ivory). Then I added one cup of borax and one cup of washing soda and a scoop of oxi clean. To mix it up I put it in a quart jar and shook.

Homemade Rose Scented Powdered Laundry Detergent
I love making my own laundry detergent and have been doing so for years. My favorite way to make it is the highly condensed liquid form and you can check out my blog post and directions for it here! Even though it is what I use the most I occasionally like to use powdered detergent so this week I decided to make up a batch and rather then use Felsnaptha like I normally use I decided to use a bar of rose scented castile soap and I absolutely love it! It smells so feminine! I'll definitely make more when this batch is all gone!

Perfect Creamy Mashed Potatoes
This is the perfect mashed potato recipe for the holidays! Do all the hard work the day before so you can take it a little easier on the day of your big family meal! It is a family favorite for us and oh so yummy!
5 lbs. potatoes
1 Cup half and half
1 stick softened butter
1 large package of cream cheese
1 teaspoon Lawry's seasoned Salt
1 tsp. regular salt
1/4 tsp pepper
paprika- optional
Peel and boil potatoes in salted water. When ready, mash in mixer with other ingredients. Place in 9x13 casserole pan and put two tablespoons of melted butter over the top and sprinkle with paprika. Cover casserole and bake for 25 minutes. Bake at 350. Can be frozen in advance so on the day of the event it is already ready. I make it the day before and skip the baking part at that time. I refrigerate and then bake it when I am ready!

October Menu Plan
One thing I do every month is make a menu plan. This helps me prepare a grocery list, plus I always have a plan. No last minute foraging through the pantry and freezer trying to figure out what I'm going to fix. I frequently juggle the meals around depending on our schedule. For me, it is easiest to grocery shop once a month and get all the food for the meal plans at one time. Of course, I still have to make runs to the store through out the month for items such as milk, bread, etc. etc., Here's my meal plan for October. I don't have side dishes listed for the meals that will need them. Oh and Sunday's are always left over day. Mamma's day off!!
